What are glass metal-look beads?
Glass metal-look beads (стъклени — stakleni) are glass beads with a metallic surface coating or metallic-effect finish — positioned within the Metal Beads section because their visual appearance and jewellery application align with the metal bead range, despite being glass rather than metal in their core material. A metallic coating applied to a glass bead surface — typically a vacuum-deposited or chemical metallic layer — produces a bead with a bright, mirror-like or satin metallic sheen that is visually similar to a plated metal bead. The glass core gives these beads different material properties from genuine metal beads: they are lighter than metal beads of the same size, the surface has a harder, more brittle quality than soft-plated metal, and the glass body may show a slight translucency at the edges when light shines through the uncoated drilling hole. Common forms include round glass beads with full metallic coating, faceted glass beads with metallic finish, and smooth glass beads in gold, silver, and other metallic tones.
