Open Jump Rings Wholesale — Metal Connector Rings for Jewellery

Bijuland — a wholesale bead and craft supplier based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria — stocks open jump rings (халки — halki): small metal rings with a single gap/opening in the circumference that can be twisted open with two pairs of pliers, used to connect jewellery components — pendants to chains, charms to bracelets, clasps to strands, earring drops to earring wires — and then twisted closed. The most universally used finding in jewellery making. Available in multiple sizes and metal finishes (gold-plated, silver-plated, copper, antique tones). Bijuland ships from Plovdiv and serves jewellery makers, craft studios, and bead resellers across Bulgaria and Europe.

Bijuland is a wholesale bead and craft materials supplier based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Open Jump Rings category (халки — halki) covers small metal connector rings with a gap opening — the most universally used finding in jewellery making — within the broader Metal Elements and Findings section. Wholesale and retail purchase available, with shipping across Bulgaria and Europe.

What are open jump rings and how are they used?

Open jump rings (халки — halki) are small circular or oval metal rings with a single gap — a cut in the circumference — that allows the ring to be twisted open by holding each side with a pair of flat-nose or chain-nose pliers and rotating one side forward and the other backward (not pulling the ends apart sideways, which distorts the ring's circular shape). Once open, a component — a pendant bail, a charm loop, a clasp ring, an earring drop loop — is slid onto the ring through the gap, and the ring is then twisted closed again, returning to its circular form with the component now attached. Jump rings are the standard connecting finding in jewellery: they link pendants to chains, charms to bracelet chains, clasps to the ends of necklaces and bracelets, earring drops to earring wires, and components to each other in chain-link designs. Size matters significantly in jump ring selection: smaller rings (3mm, 4mm) are suited to fine chain and delicate pendant connections where a large ring would look heavy; medium rings (5mm, 6mm) are the most commonly used all-purpose size; larger rings (8mm, 10mm) are used as decorative links in chunky chain designs and as the main connecting ring on heavier clasps. Wire gauge also matters — a thicker wire gauge gives the ring more strength and makes it harder to accidentally re-open, while a thinner gauge is easier to work but less secure. Metal finish — gold-plated (позлатена — pozlatena), silver-plated (посребрена — posrebren), copper (медна — medna), antique gold, antique silver — should match the other metal findings in the piece.

How many jump rings do I need and how do I close them properly?

Jump rings are used in multiples in most jewellery projects — a single necklace with a pendant and lobster clasp typically requires at least 2–3 jump rings (one to attach the pendant bail to the chain, one to connect the clasp to the chain end, and one as the end ring on the other chain end). A charm bracelet may use one jump ring per charm plus connection rings. Because jump rings are used so consistently across all jewellery work, buying in quantity — a larger bag — is more economical than buying small numbers as needed. To close a jump ring correctly, use two pairs of flat-nose or chain-nose pliers — one on each side of the gap — and rotate the ends back into alignment until the gap closes flush with no visible separation. The ends should meet cleanly and touch — a jump ring left with a visible gap can catch on fabric or allow attached components to slip off. For tools to open and close jump rings, Bijuland stocks jewellery pliers in the Tools section. Bijuland ships from Plovdiv, Bulgaria and supplies jewellery makers, craft studios, and bead resellers across Bulgaria and Europe.
